"The children are cared for in a gentle and nurturing manner and were obviously happy and completely secure. The staff know the children well and each child was treated as an individual. From observation and discussion, the Staff devote all of their time and attention to the children and are very aware of the importance of early childhood experiences"

"My daughter spends much of her day outside, which is her favourite pastime. The home setting and huge outdoor space make for a great learning environment. She talks constantly about all members of staff.

She loves being dropped off at Esther's, which makes the stress of going to work much easier"

Tapestry Daily Online Journal

We have an onlne journal account with Tapestry that all parents can login to, for children aged 0 months to 5 years.

Tapestry builds a very special record of a child’s experiences, development and learning journey through their early years and primary education. Using photos, videos and diary entries, the Team at Fundays, along with the child’s parents, ‘weaves’ the story of the child and how they are growing and developing.

The Tapestry platform then works seamlessly to enable these memories to be kept as a permanent record of each child’s unique journey. All information held in the platform is stored securely, and can be downloaded and shared as required. Parents are able to view online their child’s progress and how much fun they’re having,  whilst also uploading their own comments and media.

Other email addresses can be added so that grandparents and alike can also follow the child's journal online. We encourage the parents to add pictures and stories to the journal so that when they leave Fundays to enter into full time school, they will have a full account of their adventures here and at home for their pre-school years. Fundays has its own dedicated secure mobile phone for tapestry pictures and associated journal updates.

We Encourage Free Play

Free play is play which is not directed by an adult or childminder in any way, but where children choose activities or games that interest them.

This may include us setting up the tools so children can be engaged in their own play such as having art materials, Lego, or building materials around for children to investigate and explore.

Free play is where “the child directs" the play and there is no expected outcome from an adult. Examples of free play are playing in the garden, dress ups, singing, making a bug catcher, building with Lego, drawing, playing with toys using imagination, exploring the garden, creating a puppet show, role playing, being silly with friends, blowing bubbles, rolling on the grass, jigsaw puzzles, playing with pets etc.

Research shows that when children are using their imagination or in the state of wonder of their natural environment, just playing for the sake of playing without any expected outcome from an adult, then their brains are refreshed and rested.

Children need to rest their brains regularly and by taking children from activity to activity, this only stresses children, leaving little time for this vital play time. Not only is this vital for children's mental health and overall wellbeing, but essential for development of social and emotional skills.

Parents or us as child care providers can get involved in the play, as long as they aren’t directing the play, but rather playing with the child and letting him/her take the lead.

"Home from home

I had to return to work full time following the birth of both my children so good childcare was essential for me and my family. I researched childcare within a 10 mile radius of Brecon and Fun Days stood out for me from the start. The staff are friendly, well-qualified and have a genuine interest in the well-being and development of the children in their care. The setting is second to none, with designated childrens play areas, sleep rooms and fabulous outdoor facilities - even a water slide in the summer, weather permitting! Both my boys settled quickly here; one is now 5 and in school full-time but still asks for play dates with Esme! He was part of the family during his time there and so there was never any question as to where my second son would go; he enjoys outings to the library, walks in the woods and messy play with his friends there. I remain extremely happy with the care he receives and if you are looking for a setting that is both professional and welcoming then look no further. This really is a home from home."
